The Imagined Life

synthetic drug testing

In life and in love and in business, we all need to use our imaginations to their fullest extent. If we are good with numbers, then we see life in numbers, angles, and measurements. If we are good with art and ethereal design, then we see life in splotches of color and in shapes which travel through walls and travel through time. However we view life, it must be done with our imaginations, and that vivid perspective is a huge step toward making sure that we get our goals accomplished exactly as we want them, and not how someone else wishes them to end up.

The imagined life is the life in which we have complete and total control. Unfortunately, many people who abuse alcohol or drugs find themselves in a life where their imagination is shot, their faith in themselves is shot, and the idea of turning their dreams into reality is completely gone. The imagined life is only for people who can keep a steady and realistic head on their shoulders and progressively move toward an object for which they have prepared themselves already.

Substance abusers come across the heavy and rather large obstacle of imagining dreams in which they cannot see themselves succeeding or imagining fantastic worlds which they cannot see themselves actually creating. Either the imagined world is lacking in substance, or their ability to turn it into reality is lacking in faith in themselves.

For your employees, you want people who look at their jobs and see new ways of doing old work and see innovative ways to solve problems. You don’t want to see workers who have given up on themselves and on life. Implement workplace drug test, and you might as well use Mediscreen which is NATA accredited for this. We are NATA AS4308 & AS4760 accredited Australia wide, and we run a leading mobile drug and alcohol testing service for every business and every worksite location that your company can possibly obtain for itself. We are good at our jobs, and we have plenty of imagination to fuel our scientific and screening work and our customer service with your business.

The Death of a Loved One

When someone important in our life dies, we are in a state of timelessness. Time stops, time does not go on anywhere around us, and our lives are put on hold for a while until things begin to hit us with reality again. This is how the funeral industry is so rich. We make our decisions for our loved ones while we are in this stupor of timelessness, and are completely unable to make rational choices for ourselves or other people.

The death of a loved one may also bring on a drinking binge or drug abuse binge, just to prolong the lack of feeling. For, as we all know, when we come out of that stupor, life, reality, and all of the pain hits us in the face like a brick wall traveling toward at freeway speeds. Therefore, when people do start feeling the pain of a lost loved one, this hurt is so bad that they will do anything to get rid of it, even resort to short term drug or alcohol abuse. Now, all of this sounds very reasonable, except that the need to hide the pain often turns into a long term situation.

You see, hiding from the intense pain of something, rather than choosing to feel it as it’s happening in real life, really delays the pain until another time, a time when you are even less able to deal with it than you are right now. So, for that reason, doing something to delay pain will only cause you more pain in the end.

This is not to say that anyone in their right mind goes through this rational process when they are dealing with the death of a loved one. They merely react to the situation, however they do it, and it may be in a healthy way or in an unhealthy one, and there is very little that you can do about it. However, if you run a company in which this person works, you may want to keep an eye on them, particularly the results from your drug testing program. In this respect, you will need a reliable company like Mediscreen, NATA accredited for workplace drug testing, and a leading collection agency in Australia.

Pain Killer Addiction

When you are in pain, whether it is psychological, emotional, mental or physical, you can feel extremely desperate for a way out. Every year, thousands of people become addicted to pain medication which is meant to help them manage their pain, while they search for a solution to the underlying problem. Instead, many people find it difficult to even handle their lives at this point, and the pain medication helps them to feel better, if temporarily. Thus, the beginning of their pain killer addiction is created. This can continue until their life is sufficiently messed up and distorted that they begin using other, quicker acting drugs.

Yes, illicit drug abuse and alcohol abuse are forms of pain management. It is the irresponsible, childish way out of your problem, and yes, it works every time. Unfortunately, the temporary solution can begin to squeeze out the time spent in the real world, among ordinary people and with real world solutions to problems. This way of handling things is the difference between pain management and pain killer addiction. The healthy approach only controls the pain, while the unhealthy approach starts to control all portions of your life.

That is what addiction is. Addiction is the point at which you begin to allow your life to be controlled for you, rather than the other way around. Since this lack of personal responsibility over your life is not very acceptable in today’s society, addicts hide this choice and act as if they are in control, when in fact they are still choosing to allot control of their lives over to others or to chance.

Any kind of addiction, no matter what type it may be, can manifest itself in the professional world. That is why drug testing Australia has some help from Mediscreen. Our business helps drug and alcohol testing to be strong, and to stay strong. We deliver our services, that is to say that we provide onsite drug and alcohol screening to your company, again onsite, and your employee records are also stored onsite. Follow up lab tests may be required for some samples, but that is it. Call Mediscreen for more information.

Examining Past Performance

Certain industries or job categories entail going over video or audio of past performance and evaluating how you can fix your mistakes and create better performance for the future. This type of job really grows emotional intelligence in employees very quickly, and keeps it in very high gear for the remainder of their career in their particular field of choice. Things like centers for disease control, virology departments, safety protocols, military procedures, and anything else which may be recorded to ensure quality service are all potential candidates for video or audio monitoring.

Examining past performance, in the beginning, is very grating to the nerves and leaves you feeling raw and sensitive inside. However, the more you are exposed to this type of programming and training, the more you get used to it. The more you feel as if this is the correct way of doing things, the more you toughen yourself against it. The more you can, without emotion but with full mental clarity, examine your past performance, the more you can leverage your mistakes to thrust you forward. This is important to know, because many people view mistakes as…well…being mistaken.

Mistakes cannot be blown out of proportion, like making a mountain out of a molehill, and they should never be ignored, which is what low-energy, substance-abusing employees are likely to do. There needs to be an attitude of accepting behavior or decisions which need to be changed, without the impending self judgment or judgment from others. An employer, being influential, can really make a mark on their employees in this manner, both for good or evil, and it is important to bear this responsibility wisely.

Mediscreen provides onsite drug and alcohol screening services throughout Australia, and we consider our mobile, onsite drug screening services to be some of the highest quality drug and alcohol testing around, without all of the price associated with regular laboratory testing. Drug tests in Perth are easily obtained, since we are based there. Workplace drug testing laws may even require you to initiate employee screening, and you may as well enjoy a better outcome, both in price and in quality if you are required to test your employees. Call Mediscreen today to schedule an appointment.

An Arbitrator’s Edge

In the trading world, arbitration takes a special kind of temperament, along with an enormous amount of control. Stock arbitration, or stock speculation as it is sometimes called, can only be successful if the individual separates their emotion and their livelihood from the transaction process. Also, they need a humongous amount of discernment and self control to keep them from trading during non-moving market fluctuations just for the sake of trading. There are many pretenders, but the real deal in arbitration requires huge amounts of self discipline, self control, and lack of emotional connection. This emotionless state of mind works for many different types of situations.

For example, in the business world when you are implementing employee drug and alcohol testing, it is necessary to not become too bogged down in personal preferences for specific people. You must be able to separate the personal and professional emotional blueprints within yourself. If you are unable to do this, you will be cold and unfeeling in your private life, or warm and doormat-like in your professional life. Many inexperienced managers cannot bring themselves to not “Be their buddy or friend,” but these two jobs are not mutually exclusive. It is possible to engage personally with an employee on a personal level, and to engage professionally with them on a professional level. It is merely a matter of switching between two different types of energy.

Emotions cannot be brought into a professional mindset. Even in the service industry or when seeing to the needs of clientele, it becomes very necessary to leave emotions completely out of the transaction whatsoever. This will not make you cold and unfeeling. It will make you better able to see problems and anticipate needs before they are voiced.

Onsite drug and alcohol screening brings a mindset of professionalism, the unique aspect of the successful arbitrator, to your place of employment. Employee drug screening sets off initial alarm or uncomfortable feelings toward the process, but as the volatile emotions leave and professionalism enters, it cleans up how everyone views alcohol testing. The more professional they are, the more they value the workplace drug testing process.

Drug Test Perth: Understanding Transition

Transition tends to have a negative connotation, simply because some people use it as a nice way of saying “downsizing” or “cutting your budget” or “evaluating your expenses.” Transition is merely a change in a new direction. Now, to visualize this, picture a pinball machine with the ball bouncing off of different bumpers and going in different directions. Transition is NOT when the ball drops below the levers and you lose the game. Transition occurs when the ball hits a wall and flies off in another direction. Even for the better, Drug Testing Australia view transition with caution, and are not sure how to go about thinking of the situation.
In the workplace, employees have transition in their private lives which may or may not have an effect upon their professional lives. When they experience these periods of transition and are stressed out about them, they may resort to alcohol or drug abuse as a way to temporarily escape their problems or just the newness of the situation. Fortunately, Workplace drug testing can help prevent this from happening. Why is this so important?
Many individuals who are hardcore addicts started off abusing drugs or alcohol by not thinking of it as too big of a deal. In fact, many individuals who think of drug abuse as a big deal tend to abuse less and do so with extreme caution. It is the apathetic or lazy mentality which leads to long-term addiction, since the individual does not think of it as any big deal until it is too late and they are almost unable to cope with the withdrawal.
In your workplace, you must be sure to keep your employees safe and away from this risk. While you cannot directly control their actions or lack thereof, you can evaluate them periodically with onsite drug screening to determine if further action on your part is needed. If your company has a multiple strike policy, then you can discuss the strike with your employee and assess if it is really just a temporary situation or something which can lead to further problems.

Alcohol Testing: Teaching Employees about Drink Spiking

Drink spiking is an illegal activity in which a drug or alcohol is added to a drink unbeknownst to the person consuming the drink. Unfortunately, it is often difficult to determine if a drink has been spiked unless someone has seen another person add a substance to the drink. In most cases, the after effects such as nausea, vomiting, loss of memory, dizziness, and even black outs lead a person to believe his or her drink has been spiked.
The Numbers in Australia
Due to the secretive nature of drink spiking it is difficult to determine the actual number of cases that occur in Australia. However, there are several factors that influence the totals of drink spiking cases identified or reported:
  • Suspected increased levels of drink spiking with many remaining unreported
  • Varying reporting procedures by jurisdictions
  • Difficulty verifying if drink spiking occurred
One of the most difficult factors facing authorities when reporting drink spiking is the fact that the effects of drink spiking closely mimic the effects of alcohol. If a person was drinking an alcoholic drink it may be difficult to determine if drink spiking was involved without further Alcohol Drug Testing. This is sometimes compounded if the drink spiking was accomplished using alcohol.
In Australia, approximately 4,000 drink spiking cases are reported annually and many are verified through drug screening. Statistics reveal that close to one- third of drink spiking incidents result in a form of sexual assault.
 Teaching Employees about Drink Spiking
The workplace is an excellent place to teach employees about drink spiking. There are numerous myths about drink spiking that can be dispelled, and employers can include correct information in the drug and alcohol training sessions. This increases workplace safety through raised awareness.
Casual drinkers and people who drink non-alcoholic beverages are at risk for drink spiking, as well as regular drinkers. Some of the drugs used in drink spiking have longer term effects and can influence worker behaviour even when the incident occurred on the weekend.  For the employer this can mean dealing with workers who show up to work hung-over, an increased chance of worker injury, more sick days, and a loss of productivity. Co-workers are at greater risk of experiencing harm also.
Teaching employees some of the common misconceptions about drink spiking will prepare them to be safety conscious when in public places:
  • Drugs are most commonly used to spike drinks. In fact, alcohol is the most common substance used to spike drinks even though we typically hear about drugs such as Rohypnol and GHB.
  • Drink spiking always occurs in clubs and bars. The police warn that you should always be alert for drink spiking. It can occur anywhere, not just in clubs and bars. Restaurants, private homes, and even office parties can be sources for drink spiking.
  •  This is a new type of crime. Drink spiking has been around for ages. It is a serious crime and can land the offender in jail for up to 25 years.
  • All drugs used to spike drinks are undetectable. Oddly enough, you can taste and smell some of the drugs used to spike drinks. Some leave a sediment or film in the drink. When a drink is spiked with alcohol it is harder to determine if it has been spiked.
Employers can start educating their workers immediately in the dangers of drink spiking. This knowledge will help their employees and their families immensely.
Promoting a drug free workplace is critical due to the prevalence of alcohol and drug testing Australia. Drug and alcohol testing is a key enforcement component.
